Personal Life

Born and raised in Utah, USA. She is noted for her height of 1.9 m (6 ft 3 in). Her legs measure 42 inches. Today she splits her time between London, New York and Paris.

Early Career

At the suggestion of photographer Bruce Weber who spotted her at a Calvin Klein photo shoot, she left Utah aged 18 for Paris to pursue a career as a model. In Paris, she went on to work for Thierry Mugler and Chanel - and model for renowned photographers Guy Bourdin, David Bailey and Jean-Paul Goude. Modelling gave her an entree into the world of fashion - where she befriended designers and pattern cutters.

Hollywood Stylist

Scott moved to California in the early 90's and established herself as a stylist, initially in collaboration with photographer Herb Ritts and later with Helmut Newton, Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Sorrenti. In 2000, she became the first style director of the Academy Awards.

She eventually became a highly influential celebrity stylist. In 2009 she contributed designs for Madonna to wear in her photo shoot with model Jesus Luz for W Magazine[1] and in 2011, Scott styled actress Julia Roberts for a W Magazine[2] shoot - alongside Tom Hanks.

Scott has designed costumes for several films; "Diabolique" with Sharon Stone, "Ocean's Thirteen" with Ellen Barkin, Stanley Kubrick's final film "Eyes Wide Shut" and Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary Shine a Light with Mick Jagger, with whom she has been romantically linked since 2001.[3]

Designer

Scott's first collection was Little Black Dress, launched in 2006. The collection presented an array of black dresses, including her now famous Headmistress dress, worn by Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Nicole Kidman,[4] Penelope Cruz and Amy Adams, have all worn Scott's designs to the Academy Awards. Other celebrity followers include Naomi Campbell, Reese Witherspoon, Christina Hendricks, Jennifer Lopez, Sandra Bullock and Uma Thurman.

Scott asserts that her label is built upon a philosophy of timeless style, rejecting the concept of trends in favor of creating versatile, classic pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways and environments. Emphasis is laid on sexy silhouettes, immaculate construction and luxurious fabrics. All the clothing is made in Italy. Today Scott's range is available worldwide at retailers such as Barneys New York, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Maxfield, and Jeffrey, and online at yoox.com and Net-A-Porter.

In 2010, Scott collaborated with Lancome to design a capsule collection for the 2010 holiday season featuring a lipstick in Scott's signature bordeaux color. The campaign was shot by photographer Mario Testino and featured model Daria Werbory wearing one of Scott's designs.

May, 2011 saw the launch of Scott's first collection of handbags, named "Lula" after her mother. They were launched at Barneys New York with a personal appearance by Scott. [5]

In May 2011, American television host Oprah Winfrey wore Scott's designs for three of her final television show appearances.
